Italian Expedition: Alta Via 1

Team up with talented guides to take on the Dolomites of Northern Italy. The Alta Via 1 (AV1) is a world famous trek across the pale, rocky landscapes of the Dolomites. This 75-mile trail takes you along rocky ridgelines, winding valleys, and steep dolomite slopes. Expect rustic accommodations. With the exception of hotels at either end of the trip, you’ll be staying in remote mountain dormitories and your meals will be served family-style over large tables.
You’ll begin your trip flying into Venice and spending a night exploring the mazes of streets and canals. The following day, you and the rest of the group will travel to Lago di Braies to begin your trek. At the end of your trek, you'll have another full day of rest to recover your legs and savor your final day in Italy before your flight back home.
Who is this trip designed for?
The AV1 trek is a great fit for adults who are in reasonable hiking shape. You should be capable of hiking 4 - 8 hours a day, and repeating this mileage for multiple days at a time. You can expect to climb up to 3,000 feet per day and cover between 6 and 11 miles each day. The trail is at times rocky and steep, with cables in place for added support and balance.

Participants are asked to arrange their own travel to and from Venice Marco Polo Airport.

Cancellation Policy:
Cancellations made 90 days in advance of program start date will receive a full refund.
Cancellations made 60 days in advance of program start date will receive a half refund, minus a $25 processing fee.
Cancellations received 30 days or less before program start date are subject to full forfeiture of the registration price.
Medical or family emergencies will be considered on an individual basis.

*Rock-E House & Basecamp reserves the right to cancel this program if 6 participants are not still enrolled by 6/01/2020, in which case a full refund will be issued. We recommend waiting to book flights or other non-refundable travel arrangements until after this date.
