RLC Canoe Design/Build Retreat
Saturday, July 7 - Friday, July 20 2018
Handcraft a cedar-strip canoe from start to finish while staying and dining at the Eileen Rockefeller House, or "RockE" on Round Lake Campus in the Adirondack Park.
Mornings will be spent in Weecote Barn with Trevor Tait assembling the form, laying strips, sanding, fiberglassing and varnishing the finished product. In addition to making one or more canoes as a group, each participant will make their own paddle. Afternoons are open: half-day canoe trips in the surrounding area with Trevor, enjoying the porch, lake and/or hiking trails on campus, or self-guided explorations of the historic Olympic village of Lake Placid. Evenings are shared together around farm-to-table meals with stunning views of Cascade Pass.
